Basic Forum Rules

First, let's have fun here! That's what this forum is really for.

But please keep the content "PG", so that visitors of all ages are comfortable. Also, please keep discussions Dana-related, and show consideration that other visitors are here for Dana-related content.

Some suggestions:

Normal netiquette should be observed, e.g. using ALL CAPS is interpreted as yelling so it should be avoided. Also, direct critique of other participants is discouraged.

Irony doesn't translate well onto forums. So please avoid sarcasm, or anything relying on a tone of voice, facial expression, or unspoken context to relay an intended meaning.

Special note: Since the Forum is completely public, please do not post any personal contact information beyond a first name and email address. E.G., no home address, phone number, workplace info, etc. For sake of security, the moderator may remove that information, without notice.

Hard rules about what's not allowed:

The following is a list of things not allowed, that may result in messages not being displayed, or possibly edited, or may result in the participant being banned from the forum, or may result in the participant being reported to U.S. legal authorities:

Slanderous, defamatory, false/misleading, obscene, indecent, lewd, pornographic, objectifying, violent, abusive, insulting, demeaning, hostile, threatening or harassing content.

Content that endorses unlawful or illegal behavior or might result in harm to others.

Reference to Dana's personal life, beyond that which is in the legitimate press.

Advertisements or solicitations, except for causes that Dana already endorses.

Solicitations for projects, employment, or business; or for Dana's participation or assistance in these.

Multiple copies of the same message. Multiple copies will be deleted. If each copy is slightly different, only the most recent will remain.

"Alters" or "Sock Puppets"- Multiple visitor names used by one participant, often used in order to reinforce statements made in other posts.

Whole messages, journalistic content, or artistic content that are not about Dana-related, Forum-related, or DanaDelany.com-related topics.

Web links pointing to content that is against Forum policies.

Content which is hard to read or understand by other forum visitors as a result of excessive spelling errors, excessive grammatical errors, (of course taking into account when English seems to be a second language), or obscure references.

Content with excessive emotional expression that can be embarrassing or disturbing to other forum visitors, including messages of an obsessive nature, or messages appealing to sympathy for purposes of eliciting a reaction.

The webmaster reserves the right to evalate how the above guidelines may apply to any particular message.
